Jammu and Kashmir deputy chief minister Mangat Ram Sharma today collapsed due to heat and humidity while taking a salute at an Independence Day function here while Meghalaya Chief Minister D.D. Lapang stumbled and fell during the function in Shillong.
There was some panic at the venue as Sharma collapsed. He was shifted to a chair. After a while, he continued with the function. “I felt a bit giddy and am feeling alright. Heat and humidity was unbearable,” he told reporters later.
Meanwhile, Lapang fell when he returned to the saluting base after inspecting the parade. Lapang was helped to his chair by East Khasi Hills District SP A.R. Mawthoh and DCP D.P. Wahalang.
