It’s that time of the year again, BJP to celebrate

The emphasis will be on good governance — provided by the BJP-NDA combine. And the outcome will be in the form of booklets issued by the PIB. Since 1998 — with a brief break in between — Vajpayee has been at the helm for the last five years. Hence the booklet commemorating his five years, with text penned by Media Advisor to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Sudheendra Kulkarni, after innumerable revisions. Till the last minute before it went to the press, it was being revised, it is said. The booklet, Five Years of a Dynamic and Visionary Prime Minister, highlights the achievements under Vajpayee’s rule beginning from agriculture to youth affairs and sports.

The celebrations in October last year to commemorate three years of Vajpayee’s rule, for which the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity was asked to bring out booklets, was an ode to the government that had stayed put and highlighted the achievements of the Government on subjects ranging from agriculture and youth affairs and sports under the sub-head, milestones.

All the ministries of the Vajpayee Government have been asked to list their achievements in the last four years which will be put together in the form of booklets.

The ministries have been directed to spell out government initiatives state-wise. A separate booklet is expected on developments schemes for women and the underprivileged. Doordarshan is likely to produce a half-hour programme on the Government’s achievements.
