The Indian government has ruled the pitch fit to play, the BCCI said it was working on strategy. Reactions across the border, where an India-Pakistan Test hasn’t been played in 14 years, were understandably positive:

Javed Miandad (Pakistan coach): It’s good for cricket in Asia. Both teams will definitely improve by playing against each other in Test matches, but the main thing is that cricket-crazy fans in both countries would see their stars in action

Inzamam-ul Haq (Pakistan captain): It’s a positive sign and I am excited by the thought of playing India here next year. It’s the answer to the millions of people from both countries who wanted to see Pakistan-India play against each other in Tests

Imran Khan (Former captain): I’ve always believed that cricket can help in not only easing tension, its good for both countries. Cricket can further the process of peace as it ignites huge interest in both countries and I look forward to India’s tour next year.
