Ranchi, Aug 27: The BJP's Vananchal committee today said the party would under no circumstances give up its claim to the Chief Ministership of the proposed Jharkhand state even if the JMM opted out of the National Democratic Alliance.Talking to PTI here today, spokesman of the BJP's Vananchal committee which has recently been given the status of a state unit, Umashankar Kedia said, ``no set of circumstances can force the BJP to relinquish its claim over the Chief Ministership of the proposed new state of Jharkhand.''Apart from the fact that the BJP has the maximum number of 32 MLAs in an alliance consisting of the BJP, the Samata, the JD (U) and the JMM, the contribution made by the BJP towards the creation of a separate Jharkhand state further strengthened the BJP's eligibility to head the interim government in the proposed state, Kedia said.When reminded of the JMM's reported threat to quit the NDAif its president Sibu Soren was denied the top slot, Kedia clarified that even then the BJP would not give up its claim over the Chief Ministership of Jharkhand.
