The Assam Police have arrested a hardcore Islamic jehadi militant from a hideout in the state capital and identified him as a kingpin of ISI activities in the northeastern region.
The arrest of S M Alam alias Mojibullah Alam alias Asif Alam, who was picked by Assam Police sleuths on Friday night, in fact, has been described as a major success against Islamic militants who are becoming increasingly active in the region. “It is a major breakthrough,” said a senior Assam Police official, especially in view of intelligence reports that Islamic militants were planning to carry out some major acts of sabotage in the region in the near future.
