MUMBAI, May 21: Team-mates at the World Junior tennis championships in Jakarta, Megha Vakharia and Isha Lakhani, will square off in the under-14 final of the SK Pandit Memorial Adidas AITA Junior tennis tournament.
Both registered quick, ruthless wins in the semi-finals at Dadar Club today. Megha, in a repeat of the Maharashtra State Ranking final held last week, outslugged Johan Fernandes 6-1, 6-1 in 48 minutes. While Isha pulverised Lata Asudani 6-3, 6-4 in an hour and seven minutes for a battle of left-handers in the summit clash.
The rest of the semi-final and final slots were filled up predictably, with only third seed Liza Pereira falling in the under-16 quarter-finals. Qualifier Anisha Shelar upset Liza 6-4, 6-4 to set up an early Friday morning clash with top seed Radhika Tulpule.
Yesterday8217;s hero Rohan Gajjar continued to roll smoothly. He had little trouble in the under-14 semis against Ankit Doshi, winning 6-4, 6-0 in the morning.
