CHANDIGARH, Oct 28: Irina Brar celebrated her 16th birthday today in a grand style by wresting lead from overnnight leader Parnita Garewal by scoring two over par 74 to on the penultimate day of the 7th Punjab Open amateur ladies golf tournament here at the Chandigarh Golf Club.
Parnita Garewal and Guneet Raikhy played identical rounds of 6 over par 78.
Manish excels
Manish Srivastava beat Manan Nagpal 6-4 to win pool title in the Asia snooker and pool prize money tournament at Asia Billiards in Sector 34, today. Aman Bhasin pocketed amateur snooker title by defeating Gurvinder 49-32, 22-57, 38-52, 67-40, 41-39.
DAVC-10 win
DAV College, Sector 10 scored a 60-44 convincing win over Panjab University Campus in the PU zonal basketball competition at the DAV College premises in Sector 10 today. Nirpinderjeet Singh was the main architect of DAVC8217;s win in the match today. He top scored with 28 points. Amanpreet Singh 20 and Arun Pal Rana 6 also contributed to the total. DAVC-10 in their yesterday enconter defeated Government College-11 by 50-19. In another match SD College, Sector 32 outplayed DAV College, Malaut 70-19 and Govt College, Ludhiana beat SGGS26 by 57-34.
Jolly to lead
Rakesh Jolly will lead Punjab Region team in the second CRSB Experimental Inter-State cricket tournanment to be held at Delhi from October 29 to November 2. The other members of the team includes Gurpreet Singh, Gurinder Singh, Monish Aggarwal, Bhupinder Singh Sr Anoop Sondhi, Bhupinder Singh Jr, Sharanjit Singh, Prem Kumar, Yogendar Bhandari, Madan Lal, Ajay Bhatia, MP Singh, Arun Singla, Kamal Chaudhary, Rajesh Kumar and Hardeep Dhillon.
DS-21 lift title
Is Dev Samaj School-21 beat Government Model High School-26 by 33-26 to win title in under-17 girls section in the Chandigarh State Inter-School basketball tournament at Shivalik Public School-41, today.
Third place went to Govt Girls School-8, who defeated Carmel Convent School-9 by 26-6.
