A day after saying that Iran may be only six months from having the means necessary to make an atomic bomb, Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom called on Friday for an emergency UN session over President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s remarks this week.
On Thursday, after a meeting in Paris with his French counterpart Philippe Douste-Blazy, Shalom said, ‘‘The next meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is a crucial meeting, because there is only so much time until (Iran) will have full knowledge of how to develop a nuclear bomb.
“It may only be six months from today,’’ he added
On Friday, speaking of the Israeli decision to take Iran before the UN, Shalom told Israel Radio, “We have decided to open a broad diplomatic offensive.”
