SURAT, Feb 21: Noted social activist Dilip G Marfatia has been awarded `Best Citizen of India 1998' by the International Publishing House.Marfatia, according to the award citation, was selected for his significant social activities like teaching Harijan children. He was also honoured for his significant contribution in the field of education, for establishing a network of fellow social workers for effective co-ordination and better utilisation of resources, for setting up health centre in Vrudhha Ashram and for other socio-politico activities. Born in a family of freedom fighters, Marfatia - following his father's footsteps - started educating Harijan children at the age of 17 and then dedicated his life to the field of education.
