The Indian Oil Corporation has terminated the retail dealerships of the two pumps owned by the Mittals in Lakhimpur Kheri. The fuel tank machines at both pumps are in the process of being dismantled.‘‘This was being kept on hold as the police investigation might require a close examination of the fuel tanks and the spot again. Now we have taken out all the fuel from the pump’s tanks and the stock valuation of this fuel has been done,’’ a senior IOC official in Lucknow said today. The IOC had sought legal opinion before proceeding with the termination.‘‘The agency violated a number of clauses as per our agreement with them at the time of granting the retail dealership,’’ said IOC officials. The basic charge, however, is rampant adulteration, which was proved as a team of IOC officials conducted a raid after Manjunath’s murder and found equipment that was used to break open the seals to take out diesel and mix kerosene. All allegations that Manjunath had levelled against the pump stood vindicated, a senior IOC official in Lucknow told The Indian Express.
