Tearaway speedster Shoaib Akhtar, prone to injuries and stress because of his neck-breaking speed, will be rested till August 20 this year to allow him to preserve his energies for the hectic cricket season leading up to next year’s World Cup in South Africa.
Pakistan Cricket Board today announced the decision to rest the match-winner saying “this period of lay-off will give him ample opportunity to train and prepare himself for the forthcoming hectic cricket season”. The decision means Shoaib will miss the triangular Morocco Cup at Tangiers later this month. The team management alongwith PCB doctor Tauseef Razzaq recommended the rest after assessing Shoaib’s case.
