Inflation up to 4.47%

Costlier foods, electricity and manufactured products pushed up inflation to 4.47 pc for the week ended March 27, but 2003-04 ended on a positive note with the price level being contained at 4-4.5 pc as has been estimated by the government. The point-to-point wholesale price index (WPI) inflation rose by 0.17 pc from the previous week’s level of 4.3 pc. However, inflation averaged around 5.18 pc for the fiscal 2003-04.
