NEW DELHI, July 10: One-and-a-half-year old Tushar Kulkarni, who has been battling a host of infections from the time he was six months old now may be able to go to the US for special treatment. Following an Express Newsline report on Thursday, July 9, Air India has agreed to provide four free tickets to the family.

Since Tushar’s case cannot be handled by doctors in India, the parents have contacted a hospital, the Spaudling Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of the Massacheutts General Hospital, which has a special ventilator wean-off programme. Poonam Kulkarni, Tushar’s mother said: “We feel we are almost there. We knew that Tushar’s case was deserving and that we will get some assistance, but we could never imagine that it will come through so soon.” The Kulkarnis will be accompanied by a doctor and special flight arrangements would be made for them.

Poonam added, “We were so touched when a young girl who had read the story in Express Newsline came to us at AIIMS with a basket of carnations and her personal contribution for Tushar.”

The Kulkarnis can be contacted through Farha at 91554299. Mumbai contact number: Anjali Malwade 4135125, 4126671/ 9821024282.
