CHANDIGARH, Dec 6: A democratic solution to the Kashmir problem as well as demilitarisation in both India and Pakistan was stressed upon by the Pakistan-India People’s Forum for Peace and Democracy at its fourth joint convention, held in Pakistan.

A statement issued here today said that the forum was also unanimous in its projection that the two governments must not engage in a nuclear, arms and missile race.

The forum also demanded that both countries resist deployment of weapons in their possession and reduce their war waging capabilities by 25 per cent over the next three years. About 300 delegates, including about 140 from India, had met in Peshawar on November 21 and 22 for the convention. All acts of intolerance and discrimination against women were denounced and punishments meted out to women in the name of religion by self-styled custodians of religion were condemned during the deliberations.
