Calling claims of the Indian Government regarding Hyderabad blasts baseless, Muhammad Imran, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh, has said it will only help militants and fundamentalists.
“We have already said no one has been arrested in Bangladesh regarding the Hyderabad blasts. The Indian Government is making baseless and hasty comments on this issue,” Imran said at a press conference at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata on Wednesday.
“One should investigate properly, give it some time and then come to a conclusion. Every time such an incident takes place, such comments and statements are issued but later, everything subsides. Then nothing comes of it,” said Imran.
Asked whether it happens both ways, he said: “We do not make such comments off-hand. Sadly, it is our neighbour who does so.”
Imran said Bangladesh has been cooperating with the world community in curbing terrorism. Mulling a joint mechanism to combat terror, he said: “We have close relations with India. We share our cultural heritage with Bengal. Bilateral talks take place between India and Bangladesh at all levels. We share information of terrorism regularly. But such hasty comments only help the terrorists and fundamentalists who are wicked men.”
The Deputy High Commissioner’s comments came in response to a query regarding a comment of Union Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee. The minister had said on Tuesday that the detailed report of the Hyderabad blast investigation and terrorist networks had been forwarded to Bangladesh and the Pakistan Government.
