JOHANNESBURG, January 16: India comfortably beat Kenya by 175 runs while Zimbabwe staged a major upset in the under-19 World Cup cricket tournament currently under way in South Africa with a fine five-wicket win over the West Indies.A splendid knock of 126 by opening batsman R Sodhi helped India post an impressive 253 for nine wickets against the East Africans who collapsed to 78 all out in reply.There was humiliations for England as well when they lost to Bangladesh, who were given little hope. Zimbabwe's victory saw the West Indies being knocked out of the 16-nation tournament which began on Sunday.The Caribbean side were stranded at 234 for eight off their 50 overs while Greg Barrett (67) and Mark Vermuelen (67) laid the foundation for the Zimbabwe victory.For Bangladesh, it was Mehrab Hossain and Al-Shahriar Rokon who sparked the victory celebrations. They added 96 for the fourth wicket with Hossain playing an attacking innings as they chased a target of 224.For South Africa's under-19 cricket team, it was the easiest day of the tournament - a comfortable eight-wicket victory and an afternoon next to the swimming pool.After bowling Scotland out for 110 at Potchefstroom University, South Africa lost two quick wickets, but Michael Lumb and Morne Van Wyk were untroubled in rattling off the runs.Scoring at more than 5.50 runs an over, Lumb (51) and Van Wyk (54) were not out when they won the game.
