Indian kidnapped in Afghanistan

Gunmen have kidnapped an Indian road construction worker and a local taxi driver in western Afghanistan.

Afghani police say gunmen have kidnapped one Indian road construction workers and a taxi driver in western Afghanistan.

Police spokesman Abdul Rauf Ahmadi says the Indian was abducted on Monday in Herat province as he was travelling on the main highway towards Kabul.

Ahmadi says police are searching for the man, but have made no arrests. There have been a series of attacks on Indian road construction workers in the region.

On April 12, a suicide attacker blew himself up next to an Indian road crew, killing two Indian workers and their Afghan driver.
