The Indian boys’ duo of Tushar Liberhan and Divij Sharan failed to get past the semi finals of the French Open, losing their match against the pair of German Mihail Zverev and American Alex Kuznetsov. The Indians lost 6-7 (5-7), 4-6.
With the loss, the Indian challenge came to an end for this edition of the only claycourt Grand Slam of the year.
But despite the loss, the Liberhan-Sharan duo created a spot of Indian history y reaching as far as they did. No Indian since Ramesh Krishnan, who went on to win the boys’ title in 1979, had reached this far at Roland Garros. Though Sharan and Liberhan have played together since childhood, this was their first appearance at a Grand Slam together.
