India today decided to strengthen security for its nationals in Afghanistan and send a team of senior officials to Kabul shortly to undertake a ‘‘comprehensive assessment’’.
Following the abduction and killing of BRO official Maniappan Kutty, ‘‘a review of security guidelines for Indians working in Afghanistan is being undertaken in consultation with local authorities,’’ said the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs. In the course of the review, ‘‘security arrangements are being strengthened and necessary precautions taken’’, the spokesperson said, adding that the India was in touch with Afghanistan in this regard.
