NEW DELHI, NOV 6: In what looked a repeat of yesterday’s match, India outclassed Macau 92-40 in their Group B league game of the Asian School Basketball Championships at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, here, today.

There were the same disjointed moves, similar pattern of defence, as the Indians once again tried out various combinations for the second successive day. Only, the Macau lads put up a better show than Sri Lanka, who were at the receiving end on Wednesday.

Indian coach S Subramaniam was under no pressure to bring about a change in strategy, except that he fielded Vinay Kumar — the only untried player on Wednesday — in the first session, and went for block substitution at the end of every 10 minutes, to keep the Chinese India’s next adversary — guessing at the sidelines.

The second straight win virtually assured India of a semi-final place. For, even if Macau get past Sri Lanka, the former lack the ammunition to trouble the strong Chinese.

China played at half pace, which was good enough to beat Sri Lanka 91-39 in the other one-sided Group B contest. Meanwhile, South Korea started its campaign in a quiet fashion, prevailing over Malaysia 84-74, after sitting pretty at 50-29 at the interval.

Later, China gave an example of aggressive, fast-break basketball in the first session. Zhang Chen dunked two baskets — the second one bringing down the hydraulic board on the western end to halt play for five minutes as China shaped to swamp the Sri Lankans.

RESULTS

Group A: India 92 (Amit Singh 16, S Prasad 15, Mohit Bhandari 14, Narender Kumar 10) bt Macau 40 (Tam Hoi Kei 10, Palmiro 8)
