India and Pakistan have decided to reconvene the technical-level talks on starting the Munabao-Khokrapar bus service after Islamabad said it may need more time to set up the necessary infrastructure for facilitating the service.

It’s learnt that at the two-day talks in Islamabad on March 9-10, the Indian side conveyed that it would need about four months to set up the infrastructure which includes repairing a small portion of the road. But the Pakistani delegation reportedly felt that the period was not enough to make the necessary preparations like setting up Immigration and Customs facilities.

A joint statement at the end of the two-day technical-level talks said: ‘‘Both sides affirmed their commitment to commence the bus service…and agreed to meet again for discussions.’’ The date and place for the next meeting would, however, be fixed through diplomatic channels.
