India’s citadel cracked in the face of Iraq’s thrust in the second half as they went down 0-3 in their first leg of the second round Olympic qualifier in Amman in a Group E match.

Unfancied India did well to keep top seed Iraq at bay in the first half but then let the floodgates open after the breather with Mustafa Karim, Alla Abdul Zahra and Haider Akubi scoring one each.

Karim opened up the scoring for the Asian Games silver medallist in the 51st minute at the King Abdullah stadium. In the 68th minute Zahra gave a 2-0 cushion to his team while Haider compounded India’s misery with another strike just two minutes later.

India had beaten Myanmar at Kolkata to reach the 2nd round of the qualifiers.
