CALCUTTA, December 6: Top officials of the International Cricket Council have started arriving in the city for the two-day executive board meeting scheduled for Dec 8. Eighteen officials representing all the nine full members and a few associate members would deliberate on various issues in the ICC conclave being held outside its London headquarters for the first time.

The two-day executive board meeting would be preceded by a meeting of the special committee tomorrow.

CALCUTTA: Players from seven countries, including hosts India, have confirmed their participation in the ITF Junior World Ranking Tennis Championships to be held here from Monday. Sweden, Kyrghyzstan, Korea, Great Britain, Bangladesh and Chinese Taipei are the other countries who have sent their representatives for the hard-court meet.

Indian youngster Manoj Mahadevan has recieved the top billing in the boys section of the tournament, while Chen Yuan of Chinese Taipei is the top seed in the girls’ section.

NEW DELHI: Riding on the brilliance of striker Lokeshwari Devi, who scored two goals, India defeated Hong Kong 3-0 to began their campaign on a winning note in the Asian women’s football championship at Guangzhou (China) today.

Tababi Devi put India ahead before Lokeshwari Devi struck.

India is in Pool "A" along with Japan, Hong Kong and Guam. India play their second match against Japan tomorrow and take on Guam on Tuesday.
