Indian ninth in 4th race
Mumbai: The two Indian pairs Ashim Mongia-Mahesh Ramachandran and Naresh Yadav-Girdharilal Yadav finished ninth and seventh respectively in the fourth race of the World Enterprise Sailing Championships being held at the Saldanha Bay, South Africa. But Wednesday’s results remain provisional as the Yadavs have a protest against the Maanens — Pat and Peadar. Until the protest is resolved, the results do not count as it could also end up in disqualification of either of the two.

Tickets refunded
Pune: The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) refunded around Rs 8 lakhs to bonafide ticket holders who could not gain entry into the Nehru Stadium on Tuesday for the One-Day International (ODI) between India and Sri Lanka. Around 6,000 valid ticket holders were refused entry at the 35,000 capacity stadium. Pandemonium broke loose which led to stone throwing. Police resorted to a lathi charge to enforce control, but the incident left several fans and copsinjured.

Asian P’lifting
New Delhi: The Asian Powerlifting Championship will begin at Shah Auditorium from Thursday. National champion in above 125kg, Susheel Kumar and Loganathan are the main Indian hopes in the senior men section. The women’s challenge is spearheaded by Sarala Shetty, Rekha Mal, Raj Rajeshwari and Bharathi. In the junior section, expectations are high from Umesh Rana in 90kg and current National champion in 60 kg Shailaja.
