India beat Belgium 3-1 to register their second victory in as many matches and move into the second round of the Volleyball Youth World Championships in Mexico.

India beat Belgium 3-1 to register their second victory in as many matches and move into the second round of the Volleyball Youth World Championships in Mexico.

Coming from behind, India defeated the European team 23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-21 in a one hour and 46 minutes encounter yesterday. Earlier, India had benefitted when Tunisia failed to turn up for their opening match.

Indian captain Mandeep Singh, who was the highest scorer for the team with 30 points, said their strategy paid off in the Group A match against Belgium.

“We had prepared our strategy very well. Our team has been training and playing together for the last three months specially for this important meet,” he said.

Head coach Bir Singh Yadav said good serving was the key to India’s success.
