Ambala, April 16: Inder Kumar Jain has been elected president of the Ambala Cantonment Shri Digamber Jain Sabha, defeating his rival candidate, Dharamvir Jain, by a margin of 33 votes. I.K. Jain polled 230 votes.The election of the president assumes importance because the assets of the the Sabha run into crores of rupees as it runs many educational institutions, besides religious establishments. The Sabha, through its managing committee headed by an elected president, manages the affairs of the Jain samaj.The members wanted a unanimous election this time had to opt for voting between two candidates.I.K. Jain, who seemed to be in a losing position in the earlier stage, got the support of leading lawyer Adesh Kumar Jain, which eventually resulted in his winning the election. Adesh Kumar Jain is not only the president of educational institutions of his native town Sadhaura, but also of the local K.P.A.K. Mahavidyalaya for the past several years. He is also a member of the DAV management committee.
