Feuding Congressmen in Tamil Nadu are resorting to a poster war to express their rivalry—the latest round being fought over the move to reinduct Chennai deputy Mayor, Thiagarajan, expelled from the AIADMK, into the party. In reaction to the posters which opposed the move initiated by TNCC president G.K Vasan to bring back Thiagarajan, the “pro-Thiagarajan” posters hail AICC president and “Annai (mother) Sonia Gandhi as the Mahatma who forgave even those who murdered Rajiv Gandhi” and TNCC president G K Vasan as a “man who did not betray those who reposed faith in him”. ‘‘We will walk the path of these two leaders who believe in forgiving and forgetting and welcome back Thiagarajan into the party,” the posters read. The posters opposing Thiagarajan’s entry into the party recall how the deputy mayor had been behind the assaults on Congress councillors during the corporation meetings. ‘‘Do we welcome such a man into the party? True Congress workers are burning in anguish,” the posters, appeared yesterday, mention. The poster war in the PCC comes in the backdrop of a visit by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. The MP, on “personal trip to the state”, visited Tiruchirapalli this morning, where he participated in a two-hour presentation by an NGO, LEED (League for Education and Development), on micro-finance for self-help groups. He then drove to Karur and Dindigul to visit LEED’s units there.Rahul then left for Arvind Eye Hospital in Madurai, which is providing technical support to an eye hospital that is being built in his constituency of Amethi.
