Lawyers, at least in the Supreme Court, have got another excuse to seek adjournments in matters pending for years, and that is the nuke deal. In the week gone by, a senior Government law officer, having failed to furnish a response, asked for more time contending that the Government was is in a state of “flux”. “We have to take a view of the issue, which is very important, but the present political situation, as we all know, is in a state of flux,” ASG Vikas Singh told the Court. The petition concerned “deemed universities” and the fate of lakhs of students studying therein.
