A Palestinian suicide bomber attacked a shopping centre in a remote southern Israeli town on Monday, killing one woman and wounding nine others. Militants claimed the attacker infiltrated Israel from Egypt.
The town houses Israel’s secretive nuclear reactor. This is the first suicide attack in Israel in a year.
Police shot dead a second attacker.
A doctor said he was treating an injured man but realised he was another bomber. “We saw an explosive belt,” Dr Baruch Mandelzweig said. “We ran away.”
Then police officer Kobi Mor took over.
“I saw him move his hand to the belt, I fired and his hand fell,” he told Channel 10 TV. “Two and a half minutes later he lifted his hand again, and I fired four bullets to the centre of his head.”
