On October 20, when Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Jagmohan addresses the world community in China, he will be selling the ‘‘power and profundity of the Indian mind’’ and the ‘‘aspects of the unique heritage — intellectual, cultural and scientific’’ to attract more Chinese tourists to India.As Jagmohan leaves tomorrow for the 15th session of the general assembly of the World Tourism Organisation, being held at Beijing, he will be armed with two brochures as case studies in Indian cultural regeneration through heritage, one on the historic Red Fort and another on Kurukshetra to prove his point.For USP, the minister’s speech will introduce the Union ministry’s ‘‘new initiative’’ with regards to India’s ‘‘monuments which reflect the power and profundity of the Indian mind, interpreting and projecting our ancient heritage, presenting an image in totality our vast and varied heritage and synthesising the elements of tourism, culture and governance.’’ The minister will also introduce the ministry’s brand name of ‘Incredible India’ and also give details of the ‘‘seven pillars of the new initiative’’.Speaking about the meet, Jagmohan said, ‘‘We are working on expanding tourism possibilities with China in a big way. From December 1, we will have special flights from Delhi to Shanghai. There will also be a special flight from China.’’The new initiative follows an agreement signed last year between the two countries for promotion of tourism. In his speech, Jagmohan will present slide shows on the ‘Regeneration of Kurukshetra’ and the ‘Rebirth of a fort (Red Fort)’. Excerpts of the speech say, ‘‘In the arena of tourism and culture, India, for quite sometime, has been a sleeping giant. It is fully awake now and making strides in the right direction. It is placing before the world unique techniques of yoga, siddha, ayurveda and unani systems.’’
