Aid for sick cane factories likelySolapur: Minister of State for Co-operation Pratapsinh Mohite Patil has assured that the State Government will soon take decision to provide aid to the sick sugar factories to ensure the crushing of the bumper crop. Speaking to media persons here, Mohite Patil said, around 20 lakh tonnes of sugarcane may remain unharvested. He said the Government will make attempts to ensure the crushing of the whole crop. Agreeing with with the stance taken by the Bharatiya Janata Party over the issue of free power supply to farmers, the minister said farmers do not expect free power supply, they want regular power supply. The minister also added that the Government was considering to offer compensation to the farmers affected by wet famine. He also confidence that the saffron alliance's panel will put up a fight against the ruling panel in the elections to the cooperative banks.Left parties meetSangola: The Peasants and Workers Party (PWP) leader Ganapatrao Deshmukh has said only the Left parties can provide a real alternative to the Congress and has stressed the need of rebuilding the Left Front. Addressing a joint rally organised the CPI(M), CPI and PWP, Deshmukh said the Left parties were responsible for the growth of communal forces in the country. Narsappa Adam, CPI MLA, presided over the rall. CPI (M) leader Prabhakar Sanzgiri and CPI leader Gangadhar Chitnis also attended the rally.Demand for courtShevgaon: A delegation of local lawyers recently presented a memorandum to the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court M.B. Shah, demanding to set up a senior division civil court here. The Bombay High Court had sought information about setting up a civil court either at Pathardi or at Shevgaon. The Shevgaon lawyers' association has stated that since the town has a new and spacious court building, the civil court be set up there. A delegation of lawyers also met Ahmednagar district and sessions judge Shrikant Sathe and appraised him on the need of a senior division civil court at Shevgaon.
