Ramjas college dharna
The Ramjas College Staff Association staged a dharna protesting against the “arbitrary functioning of the principal and deterioration of the college on the academic, administrative and financial fronts”. The Ramjas staff are apparently agitated over the appointment of a candidate, which no one was allowed to question. The same candidate was selected by the committee.

Education memorandum
Congress MLA Kiran Walia and Intec candidate for the DU executive council submitted a memorandum to Education Minister Dr Narender Nath demanding that the government nominees to the governing bodies of the 28 administration colleges be withdrawn. They decried the politicisation of the process of appointment of prinicipals and teachers. The memorandum also lamented the large number of promotions piling up in DU colleges.

DU platinum jubilee celebrations
As part of its platinum jubilee celebrations, the University of Delhi has decided to confer Honorary Degrees of Doctor of Letters (D. Litt.) and Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) on 13 eminent persons. Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Dr M.S. Valiathan and Dr R.A. Mashelkar have all been conferred with a D.Sc. Dr Amartya Sen, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Dr Daisaku Ikeda, Dr Edward W. Said, Dr Gangubai Hangal, Dr John Rawls, Dr K.N. Raj, Dr M.N. Srinivas, Sardar Raunaq Singh and Dr Sarup Singh will be conferred D. Litt degrees.

The degrees will be formally conferred at a special convocation scheduled to be held on December 13. It will be presided over by the Vice-President, Krishan Kant.
