Stir rally by UT, Punjab staff
A joint rally was organised by the Joint Action Committee of Punjab and UT Employees here today.They were demanding three promotional scales, removal of discrepancies among different categories of employees, hike in City Compensatory Allowance (CCA) and increase in annual increments, among other demands.The rally was addressed by committee’s general secretaries Pratap Singh Lamba, Khushhal Singh Naga, Tarlochan Singh, Ministerial Union’s general secretary Prem Jindal, Working Women president Kanwalkit Kaur Judge and general secretary Jaswant Kaur.

Classes boycotted
Students of the Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College, Sector 46, today boycotted their classes and paralysed the hospital services of the college to protest against the non acceptance of their demands.According to the president of the Students Welfare Council, Vinay Kaushik their grevance is that they are neither eligible for government jobs, as the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) has not recognised their degree, nor for practising in states other than Punjab.

Panel meets Sagar
A deputation of the Footpath Workers Rozgar Bachao Samiti under the presidentship of Ramesh Kumar met the adviser to the UT Administrator Jagdish Sagar to submit him the memorandum listing various demands. Among their major demands were returning of tools and luggage by Municipal Corporation and permission to the roadside workers to work on pavements, according to a statement issued by the Samiti.
