Tercentenary celebrations of birth of Khalsa
A two-day state-level function to mark the tercentenary celebrations of the birth of Khalsa was organised by the Sikh Nari Manch. Jathas from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh participated and recited gurbani kirtan and religious discourses.

Delegation meets Education secy
A deputation of government college lecturers in the City today met Education Secretary Anuradha Gupta to press for their demands including implementation of notification of pay revision, payment of Dearness Allowance with effect from July 1 this year, a press release issued by Dr R.S. Brar, president of Government College Lecturers’ Welfare Association stated.

Busting of gangs welcomed
Ajay Jagga, president of the local unit of Janata Party, and Devinder Singh Babla, president of the local unit of the Samajwadi Janata Party, have lauded the Chandigarh Police for busting criminal gangs in the City, in separate press releases issued today.

Rally by powermen
UT Powermen Union held a rally today to mobilise employees for observing complete strike on December 11. The call for this has come from Electricity Employees Federation of India. The employees expressed resentment over the new economic and industrial policy. Their main demands include a halt on the reckless entry of multinationals in the country, stopping the privatisation of central and state public sector units, reviving of the sick units and checking price rise and inflation.
