CHENNAI, August 8: An Imam of a mosque in the city’s K K Nagar area was found murdered today, leading to tension in the area. When the evening call to prayer was not sounded at the appointed hour of 4.45 PM, a watchment went to investigate, and found the body of the Imam, Kamarul Jamal (36), on the second floor of the building, riddled with knife injuries. Two sheets of paper, with the words `Islamic Defence Force’. The letter accused the Imam of being a `fake’, and of indulging in anti-Islamic activities. It alleged that he cheated the public by selling talismans, and vowed to `eliminate all forces which work against Islam’.
