Seeking to distance himself from the JD-S decision to vote out the BJP government, former Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said he is planning to float a party of his own.

“I am fed up with the affairs of national parties, including my party. I am seriously thinking to start a regional party,” Kumaraswamy said without specifying whether he was disenchanted with his father and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda’s leadership of the JD-S.

JD-S sources said Kumaraswamy is yet to discuss his new proposal with his father and expressed doubts whether the JD-S patriarch would permit it.

Earlier, Kumaraswamy struck a discordant note over Deve Gowda’s attempts to work out a new alliance with the Congress to form a government.

Gowda is currently in Delhi to hold talks with Congress leaders.

“This morning I spoke to my father, who is camping in Delhi, not to knock the doors of the Congress. Under the situation, it is better to dissolve the assembly and seek a fresh mandate,” Kumaraswamy said.
