GENEVA, JUNE 15: The UN International Labour Organisation said on Thursday it had adopted a global treaty boosting rights for pregnant women and nursing mothers at work. The UN agency's 174 member states, employer and worker groups took part in the vote at the ILO's annual conference in Geneva, where some had feared the pact was doomed due to Opposition by employers. The outcome of the ballot was 304 votes in favour, 22 against and 116 abstentions, Argentinia's Labour Minister, Alberto Flamarique, who served as President, announced. ``Since the quorum necessary was reached and the majority oftwo-thirds was also reached, the revised maternity protection convention is adopted,'' he said.
