August 4: Mumbai Junior College Teachers Union (MJCTU) will protest before Mantralaya today to demand the appointment of an administrator at the Sheth Anandilal Podar Jr College to check the alleged unfair fee-hike.
According to a union leader, the college does not have a principal since the last one was suspended on May 1. The management which runs the show. has hiked the annual fee to Rs 4,510 for each student from this year with extra charges under heads like computer fee, activity fee and such vague heads as `other fee.’ MJCTU secretary, M R Andhalkar told Express Newsline, “compared to 15 divisions last year, this year there are only nine divisions because students have chosen to stay away due to the exorbitant fee hike.”
Terming the hike “illegal,” he went on to say, “The teachers who will be affected by the reduction in divisions have intimated the Deputy Director of Education about the illegal hike and the consequent reduction of divisions. However the dept is still mum."
