CALCUTTA, MARCH 8: Film Director Deepa Mehta has said she would start theshooting of her film Water ``tentatively by September-end this year''. Shewas talking to The Indian Express at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Calcutta todayafter the felicitation function of Kamal Hasan, whose film Hey Ram hadincurred the wrath of Chatra Parishad (CP) activists, the students wing ofthe Congress. The students and the outfit supporters had raided severalmovie theatres in Calcutta, where the movie was being shown.``I have not yet made up my mind on the location of my shooting, it may beboth Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal,'' Mehta said. ``In fact after shootingin Varanasi was cancelled, everything went haywire and it takes a very longtime to re-think, to re-group and begin everything from scratch again. But Imust say, I will not kowtow before any pressure and will definitely make thefilm,'' Mehta affirmed.The function, a brainchild of State Minister for Sports and Youth AffairsSubash Chakravarthy, was organised by the West Bengal Sports Council and wasattended by a galaxy of stars from both the tinsel and the political world.Among those who attended the function were Chief Minister Jyoti Basu,Minister for Industries Bidyut Ganguly, music director Illayaraja,Gandhiji's grandson Tushar Gandhi, filmstar Aparna Sen, and filmmaker GautamGhosh.``I am not a politician. What I wanted to do through the film was to createsocial awareness about the dangers of communalism,'' Kamal Hasan said in hisspeech. The Hey Ram director said that he was an entertainer but at the sametime he had a conscience too. ``I want to make films that will make theaudience think about it after they go back home. I wish all the success toall those film makers who will suffer in future, and I am sure that therewill be no dearth of artists in future who are bound to suffer,'' he said.
