The Indian Air Force will soon get 10 new Mirage 2000 aircraft from France that are capable of air-to-air refuelling.
Announcing the deal, Air Chief Marshal S. Krinshnaswamy said an air refuelling tanker would also be procured before the end of this month.
‘‘We will get 10 more Mirages later this year and one of the six tankers that we are getting from France will be here before the end of this month,’’ the Air Chief said after a meeting with the visiting Chief of the French Air Force (FAF), Gen D’Armee Aerienne Richard Wolsztynski.
The acquisition of tankers for air-to-air refuelling would be a major force multiplier for the IAF, he said.
