Senior BJP leader L K Advani says he is a fit man at the age of 78 and credits it to his wife Kamla.
“The secret of my health is my wife and family. I owe my health to wife and family,” Advani said after distributing prizes to the winners of a national essay competition on nutrition for school students.
In a lighter vein, he said he was invited to the function because he was a ‘healthy eater’ and not because he was a prominent politician.
“Normally people invite politicians for functions which are remotely connected to them. I was once invited to address a conference of cardiac surgeons. I was surprised and I told those who came to invite me that I had never gone to a cardiac surgeon,” he said.
Advani also narrated an incident in which a chief minister inaugurated a cricket tournament which was attended by a prominent player.
“The Chief Minister went on to say that he knew the player’s father was also a great cricketer and he scored ‘goals after goals’,” he said.
Addressing the gathering at his residence, the BJP leader said he agreed with renowned economist Amartya Sen that greater attention should be given to education and health.
He also presented cash awards and certificates to the winners of the essay competition organised by nutritionvista.com.
Ojasvi Goel of Vasant Valley School in Delhi bagged the first prize in the 9-12 years group while Nikita Khaitan of Convent of Jesus and Mary School here emerged victorious in the 13-16 years group.
