Asif Ali Zardari, who took over the reins of Pakistan’s ruling PPP after the assassination of his wife Benazir Bhutto in December last year, feels that his life is in danger too.“I know I’m in danger. Whoever killed her (Bhutto) wants to kill me,” 54-year-old Zardari told The Sunday Times. Bhutto, the two-time Premier, was killed in Rawalpindi, near the Pakistani capital Islamabad, on December 27 in a gun and suicide attack after addressing a huge rally of supporters ahead of the February 18 general elections in which her PPP bagged the maximum seats.Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf had blamed the local Taliban commander Baitullah Mehsud for masterminding Bhutto’s assassination, but PPP felt that there was a larger conspiracy behind it and sought the UN probe into the incident.After the assassination of Bhutto, Zardari was made the PPP Chairman, a role he shares with his teenage son Bilawal Bhutto who is currently studying in Oxford here.
