India’s most successful Test skipper Sourav Ganguly today said it was for the selectors to decide on his future as captain. ‘‘Regarding my captaincy, it is for the selectors to decide. I have to score whether I am the captain or not. I have nothing to prove to anybody,’’ Ganguly said when asked whether he feared that he might lose the captaincy due to his bad form. ‘‘I have faced situations like this before as a batsman. It has worked out several times in the past but did not now. At Kochi, I just have to put in my best,’’ he added. Ganguly said at present the issue of captaincy was not on his mind as he was focussed on spending as much time in the middle and score some runs. ‘‘I have to score runs whether I am captain or not.. That’s the first and foremost thing. Captaincy is not on my mind. ‘‘I have to spend time in the middle and get runs. I have been trying since the beginning of the series,” Ganguly said. The Indian captain, who managed just 48 runs in the three-match Test series at an average of 9.6, said he was looking forward to a better performance in the one-day series and would “put his best foot forward” from the first match to be played at Kochi on April 2.
