I don’t like the term Yuvraj: Rahul

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said that he does not like the term ‘Yuvraj’.

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that he does not like the term “Yuvraj” (heir apparent) as it was a monarchical idea.

“I am not yuvraj or anything. I see myself as a common soldier of Congress party, Youth Congress and NSUI,” he told reporters in Dehradun before winding up his trip to Uttarakhand.

“I do not like this term… I am completely against the term and against monarchical ideas,” he said.

When asked about his marriage, Rahul, in a lighter vein, said that it was best known to the media.

“I do not know when I am getting married. But very often I come across reports about my marriage. You tell me when I am marrying,” he said.

Talking about the reallotment of railway coach factory land by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, Rahul said, “Mayawati stopped the project. But now it is back on track.

Now 10,000 jobs will go to Rae Bareli. I am happy about that”.

Asked about the fate of 18 Indian sailors of a ship hijacked in the Gulf of Aden by Somalian pirates, he said the government would do whatever possible to release them.

“The family members of the sailors had met me. We will do whatever possible,” he said
