India's second-largest car manufacturer Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) has launched the diesel-driven CRDi version of ‘Accent Viva’ and said it plans to launch compact car ‘Getz’ and premium sedan ‘Elantra’ by the middle of 2004. HMIL president B.V.R. Subbu said the company expects to sell 2,00,000 units during 2004, up from 150,000 units sold during 2003. Exports exports during the current calender year are expected to go up to 70,000 units against 30,000 units exported in 2003. The Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDi) version has been priced at Rs 6.55 lakh units (ex-showroom) and the price will be uniform across the nation. Subbu said that both the vehicles, ‘Getz’ and ‘Elantra’ will be launched by June this year.‘‘The ‘Viva CRDi is expected to attract a new niche of mid-size customers and perceptibly expand Accent’s market share in the ’C’ segment,’’ HMIL managing director J.I. Kim said. Hyundai is also displaying its international bestsellers at auto expo, including Grandeur XG, Matrix and Coupe.
