City policemen and intelligence agencies were on their toes after serial blasts rocked Ahmedabad on Saturday, a day after another set of blasts in Bangalore.

Last year on May 18, explosions rocked the Andhra Pradesh capital when a bomb exploded outside the Mecca Masjid. Again on August 25 twin blasts occurred at Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat.

It is learnt that police are tracking the movements of known SIMI activists across the state as reports came in that Bangalore police suspect SIMI’s hand in Friday’s blasts.

City police commissioner Prasada Rao said Hyderabad has been put on high alert and police are extra careful of suspicious looking two-wheelers and cycles parked at public places. The police have also requested citizens to report any suspicious looking objects.

After Friday’s blasts in Bangalore, public places wore a deserted look. As news of blasts in Ahmedabad started trickling in, people were seen rushing home.
