SHIMLA, April 20: The unanimous decision of the district Kinnaur unit of the Himachal Vikas Congress not to withdraw its candidate from the Assembly seat has put the HVC-BJP alliance in an embarrassing position.
Satya Jeet Negi, general secretary of the Kinnaur district of the HVC today said, any decision of the HVC president or any decision of S C Negi, the candidate without consulting them would not be acceptable to them. Any such decision would be suicidal for the Himachal Vikas Congress, he said.
Satya Jeet Negi said the BJP candidate, Chet Ram Negi, would not be able to face the Congress on his own. He pointed out that even veteran BJP leader Thakur Sen Negi had said that the party candidate could not sway the voter in this tribal segment.
The BJP should restrain from making any statement which could strain the relations of the HVC-BJP combine, Satya Jeet Negi said.
The HVC-BJP alliance has decided that the HVC candidate would not contest the Kinnaur Assembly seat where polling is to be held on June 3, while the Lahaul and Spiti seat has been left for the HVC.
