Hussain booked for paintings

Painter M F Hussain has been booked for hurting the sentiments of people through his paintings depicting nude gods, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R R Patil said on Monday. A case was registered against Hussain on Saturday and the state police is conducting a probe into the allegations made against the painter, Patil said. Several Hindu organisations have raised a cry against Hussain’s series of paintings depicting Hindu gods and goddesses in the nude. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has demanded that Hussain be placed under arrest. — PTI
