The HRD Ministry has accepted Aligarh Muslim University’s (AMU) proposal to open five centres at a cost of Rs 2000 crores. M A A Fatmi, the Minister of State HRD on Sunday said that the university would need to prepare a project report as per the planning commission. Fatmi was speaking at the World Summit of AMU Alumni at AMU. Fatmi, an AMU alumnus, said that the proposed centres would replicate the AMU model and will be the nation’s tribute to Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of AMU. Fatmi also presented a cheque worth Rs 1 lakh for the new “Endowment Fund” of the University. The fund has been created to receive donations and will be used for academic research and development.
