MUMBAI, November 16: While many patients continued to fight death, the toll in the Raigad hooch tragedy rose to 24 with the death of six more patients today.

Among the dead, three died at the King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital in Parel, two at the Lokmanya Tilak Memorial General (LTMG) Hospital in Sion and one at the Khopoli Civic Hospital.

Since Saturday morning doctors at the city’s two premier hospitals have been toiling to save victims who consumed the spurious which was laced with methyl alcohol.

At the LTMG Hospital, which has the largest number of patients, the dead toll stood at 13 out of the 38 persons brought here.

Eleven died yesterday including a woman brought dead before admission. Another patient was discharged after out-patient treatment.

With today’s death of an employee of Suman Motels, the toll at the Khopoli Civic Hospital stood at seven.
